While it may seem like significant cube stores like Speedcubeshop, and TheCubicle just sell WCA and other twisty puzzles, there are some hidden gems and accessories amongst the wide selection of cubes that are well worth the $2 – $15 that they are.
- Storage
If you go on Speedcubeshop and search for storage, you will likely only find cube bags and cube stands, but dive a little deeper, and you will find a product that most cubers who compete in competitions carry with them: The MoYu Puzzle Bag, which is a great way to store your cubes and pack them safely for competitions. Using bags not made for holding cubes can lead to the cubes moving around and bumping into each other, potentially breaking, or damaging them. This cube bag is reasonably priced at $12.95 and can hold a maximum of 24 3x3s If you want a different option, try the QiYi M-Bag v2 which is the same concept, just in a slightly different design.
- Fun 3×3’s
This section (my favorite), includes cool variations of the classic 3×3 that provide a fun diversion from the original feel of our favorite puzzle, all of these are under $10. My favorite 3×3 variations are the YJ ZhiLong Mini 3×3 and the QiYi QiMeng Plus 3×3. These mini and large cubes respectively have cool uses. The small one is easier to take places while still performing well, and the large one is nice as a showpiece and can be helpful in visualizing algorithms. Another cool accessory based on the 3×3 is the keychain cube.

There are many variations of the keychain cube like the pillowed, concave, and extremely small versions. My top recommendation is the MoFang JiaoShi Mini 3cm 3×3 Keychain Cube, which performs great for its size and is only $2.95. If you want a more premium version, try the Gan 330 Keychain Cube which performs almost the same, but has a more refined feel.
- Mats
Another thing to look out for is that sometimes cube companies will have really good discounts on seasonal things like mats and bags. Things that normally go for around $6 can be found for less than $2.
- Best Value WCA Puzzles
YuXin Little Magic Megaminx from Speedcubeshop
If you’re looking to try out some new WCA puzzles, these are the best entry puzzles that perform well and are extremely cheap so it’s okay if you don’t enjoy the event that much, because you don’t have to commit too much money towards it. For 4×4 to 7×7, the only good brand is the YJ mgc series, and even though they are kind of expensive, they are the best option by far and will last you for your entire cubing journey.

5. Other Random Things
Here’s a quick list of some other random accessories that are of great value at Speedcubeshop.
- The MoFang JiaoShi Meilong 3×3 is a great extremely budget speedcube that all cubers should have in their collection.
- CFOP Algorithm flashcards help memorize various CFOP alg sets and also are a good way to test your memory with OLL, PLL, and F2L.
- The YJ pocket timer is a minimal timer that uses infrared technology instead of touch pads to sense where your hands are.
- When you solve the YuXin Treasure box, you can press a secret button that will open up the white face revealing a secret compartment.
