Virtual Cube; The Coolest Way to Solve the Rubik’s Cube

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you wish you had a Rubik’s cube with you but forgot to get one? For me, this has happened a few times and I think I’ve found the perfect solution: csTimers virtual cube feature is a digital Rubik’s cube unlike any other one on the internet. This isn’t one of those basic Rubik’s cube simulators you find everywhere on the web, this is a digital Rubik’s cube made with speedcubing in mind.

How to Use It

The options menu where you can change to virtual cube

Using virtual cube is extremely easy, just open up cstimer.net and click “Option” → “timer” → “Entering times with: Virtual”

Once you have activated the function, you should see the timer get replaced by a 3D Rubik’s cube. The controls are quite tricky to learn but csTimer has tried to make them intuitive. Think about the controls as doing fingertricks on the actual cube, for example, you would do U with your right pointer finger so on virtual cube, U is the “j” key since that is the key that’s pressed with the right pointer finger when typing.

Features

The virtual cube feature has support for all types of puzzles besides 3×3. Here is a list of some of the best puzzles to try solving with virtual cube. To change puzzles, just change the scramble.

  • 2×2 – 7×7
  • Megaminx
  • Pyraminx
  • Square-1
  • Clock
  • Skewb

Virtual cube has a special feature that is honestly just insane. If you go to the tools section and change it to “reconstruct,” then after you complete a solve, a chart will show your splits, TPS, move count, and even a link to an alg.cubing.net reconstruction of your solve. This is one of the best features I’ve seen on any cubing software and is something genuinely unique to csTimer and something I haven’t seen before.

What virtual cube and the reconstruction feature look like

What makes it even more interesting is that not many people know about this feature which is unfortunate since it’s so cool and useful.

If you know anyone who cubes and uses csTimer, make sure to let them know about this tool and its amazing features. Also, if you enjoyed this article or any of my other work, consider subscribing and liking this post. It really helps me out. Thanks!
